What could be more wonderful than dining al fresco under the trees? This photo, found on Domaine.com, has been so inspiring as I work on transforming my backyard this summer. The fresh and simple palette, lines of shade trees, gravel floor surface, and rustic table remind me of being in a lovely Parisian park.
Read MoreWhile visiting one of my favorite home decor stores in Dallas called Vintage Living, I was floored by these exquisite crystal chandeliers and sconces and was delighted to be able to photograph them for Nora's Nest. These one-of-a-kind pieces usually come from French chateaus, their rarity and beauty making them pieces fairytales are made of!
Read MoreI can't help but smile when admiring this still life, "Branch of Lemons", by Claude Monet. Its vibrant yellows and weightless quality says it all for spring. Whenever I find something so inspiring, it makes me think about how to incorporate the theme into my home. Planting lemon trees in old terra cotta pots, giving pops of yellow to my decor (via pillows, throws, flowers), or even attempting my own oil painting of a lemon branch are a few ideas this masterpiece creates. What a way to be inspired :)

Not only does this photograph serve as the perfect segue from my last post on Sunburst Mirrors, but its fresh, bright, and natural look is exactly what I needed to be inspired. The detailed mantle is complete with sky high cherry blossoms, a large specimen of quartz crystal, and a gold sunburst mirror (of course). Time to find my own cherry blossoms and attempt to emulate this beautiful scene. Hope you enjoy :)

Read MoreI've always thought that a bed should resemble a cloud -- soft, fluffy, and floating on air. When it came time to choose bedding for our home, the bedding I found that most captures this floating cloud look and feel was soft linen from Bella Notte, Restoration Hardware, and ABC Carpet and Home. These are my favorite inspirational photos.
Read MoreAloha from Hawaii! My husband and I are living it up in Kauai right now, drinking pina-coladas and getting caught in the rain. The last time we were on the island, it was our honeymoon, and we (ahem…I) purchased a few things for our new home that we could treasure from our blissful trip. Among those home goods were these delightfully happy pillows from Yellowfish Trading Company, located in a land called Hanalei.
Read MoreA jack-o-lantern galaxy is as magical and beautiful as Halloween can get. These gorgeous carved pumpkins were created by Linda Riddle, an amazingly talented artist who lives in Pacific Grove, CA. She covers her front yard with smiling suns and moons; stars near and far. The result is a glorious galaxy of light. I’m in awe of Linda’s work and inspired to *attempt* to make a jack-o-lantern galaxy of my own!

Gina and Alan Galichia, the owners, have the most beautiful mirrors for sale, from Venetian, to French Gilt, to etched and beveled antique. Here are some favorites from my last visit and some treasures I couldn’t leave behind.
Read MoreWisteria, ivy, and agave are what make this Italian garden in Lake Como so spectacular — oh, and let’s not forget the view. On a recent trip to Italy, we walked around this garden all day, and I couldn’t bring myself to leave until a torrential downpour forced me out. The wisteria were especially stunning — we had arrived within the two week window when they bloomed in this area, filling the air with their grape-juice aroma. I came back with dreams of covering my home in ivy, growing agaves that are larger and taller than any human, and seeing purple blossoms of wisteria cascade from every wall. Procure that view and I’m all set.
