Cinco de Mayo Backyard Celebration!
It's nearly time to celebrate Cinco de Mayo! This year, due to the perfectly warm weather, I've decided to have a small celebration in our backyard. These bold colors are festive and fun, giving a glimpse of the bright summer to come.
This fabulous blue and orange tablecloth (from my dear aunt, Linda) really sets the stage for the rest of the adornments on the table.
Remember those crepe-paper flowers I was going crazy about in my last post,
? Here, they rear their colorful heads again. This bouquet is a combination of real dyed flowers and my treasured crepe-paper flowers, making for a bountiful arrangement.
A few yellow and blue maracas tucked into the bouquet can't hurt either.
Wrapping the stem of a flower around each napkin gives a special touch to each place setting.
The bowl beneath the flowers is brimming with limes, lemons, oranges, and colorful silk ribbons.
One umbrella per pink glass? Please...
Backstage: Blooming jasmine flowers hold paper doves (I cut out of light blue cardstock) and bright blue paper fans.
The stage has been set...now it's time for the food! My amazingly talented friend, Sylvia Stutz, has created the most wonderful Mexican dishes that will shine at a Cinco de Mayo celebration like this one. Click on one of her delicious dishes below to find the recipe on her blog,
